A news application for the web, built with a custom front and back end.
This project is a community events application built using React Native and Expo. Users can browse local events, sign up and add the events to their device calendars. Signing up as an event organiser enables you to create and post your event as well! I utilised Firebase auth and Firebase Storage for the backend services, and was impressed over how straightforward this was to implement whilst following the docs. Im proud to say that this app is available for download on iPhone, iPad, Android phone and Android tablet. It can be found on the relevant app stores by searching “TAtodo Lifestyle”.
Northcoders News
This project is a web application for browsing news articles on various topics. Users can sort articles by date, comment count, or votes, and can also filter articles by topic. Additionally, users can view individual articles, read comments, post new comments and delete their comments. There are two repository’s for this project due to it having a custom front and back end, more info can be found in the README.md files. I particularly enjoyed understanding the mechanics of connecting a front end to a back end whilst working on Northcoders News, as well as implementing some TDD into the back end to ensure smooth operation. Supabase was a nice discovery to make working on this project, a really clean and user friendly UI for back end hosting.
Current project
Im currently working on an AI powered trip planner, called Wander Whiz. Users can search any location in the world and have their trip completely planned for them from accommodation to meals to activities. Ive chosen to work with technology that i’ve been impressed with in the past (React Native, Expo, Firebase) whilst adding something new into the mix in the form of Gemini. Im excited to see what Gemini can do for my app and looking forward to the release.
